Self-tanned, rested, ready...
a two-week vacation is a beautiful thing, people. Lisapapa has been holding down the fort alone, but now i'm back and a little bit better than i was before, if only because I've had plenty of time to get my beauty sleep and do some reading.
I brought this book along--Veronica, by Mary Gaitskill-- which is most def not a YA title...and beautifully written but ultimately not one i'd go out of my way to recommend. Sorry, Mary G., you're a great stylist, but this one left me cold and sort of irritated (except maybe the last 10 pages, which were lovely).
So now it's back to burger business as usual! We've got ultra cool author interviews coming up, a writing contest, and of course our famous book giveaways....it's all happening, so do visit early and often....

Thank you, that's exactly how I felt about Veronica; it was just sort of empty, and I so wanted to like it.

Yeah, Kathy, and i kinda realized that i just didn't care about the narrator. She seemed so passive and lame.
I mean, nobody forced her to be so fatally fabulous...i just couldn't sympathize too much.
