i-dog

Idogwe wish you a happy long weekend, and leave you with the strange disturbing-yet-adorable Hasbro Robotic Music Loving Canine. Apparently you can plug your mp3 player into this dog and he'll light up and dance to the beat. we want one.
til next week, groove doggies!

ok, now this is kind of mean...

but we at bookburger present the above YouTube video as evidence. This is why YOU MUST READ BOOKS. Books make you smart. Smart is good. Especially if you ever find yourself in front of a microphone at a beauty pageant. You don't want to end up like this poor gal in the Miss Teen USA pageant... (though we hear she still came in third-runner up).

So feel good about yourself, burgerfolk. You read! You think! Sometimes even at the same time!

fall reading list part one

Dramarama we at the burger have big love for E Lockhart, who was our very first burger interviewee, and writes with such hilarity and insight about people who are so much like some of our friends that it feels eerily like reading their diaries.

And admit it. You'd sneak a peek at your friends' diaries if you could...(and we aint talking about blog diaries or live journals or any of that...we mean the good old fashioned paper kind that live under the mattress or in a shoe box in the back of the closet and where the really good stuff gets written...)

anyhow, while we were slogging through of summer of hell, moving into our new hq, E was publishing Dramarama. Get a taste of it here then buy it here.

the clique movie news

so we've kind of noticed that the idea of a movie being made from burger interviewee Lisi Harrison's Clique books is topic A in the comments portion of our site. This question has been so burning hot for so long that just thinking about it makes our breakfast waffles toast to a nice crispy golden brown.

Anyhow, as some of the clever commenters on our clique page have mentioned, movie plans were announced this summer, and open auditions continue until September 5. You can go to this site and upload a video of yourself being sassy as Massie or square like Claire (can't help it--we just like to rhyme).

One little tiny detail that's not mentioned on the site: the movie will be STRAIGHT TO VIDEO. So don't go out your Oscar gown just yet...but it wouldn't be half bad to see your bad self on your local Blockbuster shelf.

Other tidbits we've gleaned: The Clique #9 :Bratfest at Tiffany's  will be in stores in February, and then there will be a set of five novellas next summer, one written from the POV of each darling-but-nasty member of the Pretty Committee. It will be called The Clique Summer Collection...and it's only 12 months away!

What's so great about Stephenie Meyer's Eclipse?

14t_2 15t uh...like, everything? We're just bummed that we were too late to enter to win one of these bitchin' Team Edward/Team Jacob tees, which they were giving away at the spiffy new Eclipse website. We're glad we caught up with megaseller Steph way back when she was a mere bestseller.

Now, to get you in that back-to-school frame of mind, today's essay question....
Zac Efron as Edward: cool idea or horrible crime against literature?

Seriously, we'll pick a random winner from everyone who comments below on Eclipse...the lucky duck will nab an audio version of Eclipse...

howdy from bookburger's new headquarters!

Vermirror ok, so our move kind of mushroomed into a two-month-long journey into the dark heart of chaos--not very conducive to reading, blogging about reading, or even turning on our laptops--but now we're back. And hey, we're SO glad to see you, burger people! We missed you desperately!

Of course, during our break, we snuck time away from packing and upacking to brew up some big plans. We've got amazing goodies in the pipeline--from an interview with the Gossip Girls series'  Cecily von Ziegesar (we're even learning to spell her name!) to scads of giveaways, a new haiku contest, reviews, and who knows, maybe even a musical number or two.

We're swinging from the chandeliers out of pure excitement for what's coming up....

bookburger is...

  • a site for hungry readers ages 14 to 24. Reviews, news, contests, and deliciousness of all sorts. Take a bite.
